Public Sector New People Leader Programme Part 1
Moving into a new role as a people leader for the first time feels tougher, harder and more lonely than most people expect. To be successful, new people leaders need to build from the behaviours of an individual contributor, to empowering and supporting others to get the work done.
Continuum Consulting Group are accredited to deliver the Leadership Development Centre New People Leader (NPL) programme for leaders who have transitioned into a leadership role for the first time.
The New People Leadership programme is an eight month blended learning programme that introduces the skills and mind sets required for a successful transition from being an individual contributor to managing and leading people.
The programme is targeted at ensuring that new people leaders can achieve the seven development priorities as set out by the State Services Commission.

It is estimated that the total time commitment will be 8 days over 5 months.
A sample learning journey:
- a development diagnostic and conversation with one manager (90 minutes)
- completion of 6 development and action guides (2 days, 3 – 4 hours each)
- attendance of 3 full day workouts and a half day recall (3.5 days)
- 4 learning group meetings (90 minutes each, a total of 6 hours).
It is estimated that the total time commitment will be 8 days over 5 months.

The LDC has negotiated recommended rates with the suppliers on behalf of agencies. These rates are for the facilitation of the full New People Leader programme or for the individual workouts.

- How to do an effective 1:1 with a team member.
- The basics of public sector finance (budgets, accruals, appropriations and forecasting).

- a kick-off session and a half day recall at the completion of the programme (1-day)
