Join us at our next Brains in Business Local Interest Group meeting at 5pm on September 29th. We are pleased to host two speakers:
Workplace Resilience With Dr Dee Alexander Resilience is the ability to remain calm, effective and focused under pressure. Resilient people behave differently. We can each discover how to bounce back from adversity, show courage, develop our creativity and live in connection with others. By building integral daily practices we learn how to master our well being, and increase our resilience. An Analysis of Impediments to Collaboration in the NZ Public Sector With Nasi Jenkin This presentation outlines opportunities for the public sector and provides some insightful strategic thinking. Nasi’s research goes beyond the why and moves into the what and how of delivering successful collaborative initiatives, with demonstrable benefits and outcomes. This presentation will be an opportunity to summarise and breathe life into some of her findings. The CCG Development Series: Managing others 2016Following the success of last year’s programme we are running another CCG development series “Being a Great Manager” programme. Starting in September this year.
This one-year programme is designed to build and strengthen a foundation in management skills and to build practical “hands on” management skills. If you are looking to develop the management and leadership potential of someone who works for you, or if you are keen yourself, do give us a call to discuss. We were pleased to have Dr Norman Chorn be our guest speaker at the latest Brains and Business meeting. Why can’t my people be more strategic? What causes this lack of strategic thinking amongst people in an organisation? And how can we resolve the situation? Norman explored the reasons for why there may be a lack of strategic thinking within organisations. He suggested new initiatives that may help to increase this type of thinking, using a neuroscience and brain-based approach. Missed out? See what some past attendees had to say about the event: "I thoroughly enjoyed the session and it was very interesting to compare an organisation to a brain. Gave me a lot of aha moments and, that makes so much sense! I also enjoyed your and Norm’s presenting style,; a good pace, clear and inclusive of the audience. Although it is interesting information, it is important how it is delivered to maintain interest as well as being able to present it in a way that people can understand and appreciate the key messages. On top of which, it was most enjoyable to be able to network and discuss ideas with others." - Senior HR Advisor “A valuable, thought provoking session…Jenny and Norman do a great job of highlighting where emerging neuroscience insights can intersect with the world of corporate strategy. Quite literally, out of the box thinking…” - Public Sector Manager
